Julie Crowgey, CMP

Vice President of Finance

  

Julie Crowgey, CMP, is the event coordinator for the Office of University Outreach and Engagement at Michigan State University. Julie graduated in 2004 from Michigan State University with a degree in Hospitality Business and she earned her designation as a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) in 2011.

Julie plans and implements events that range in size from five to over 600 attendees. She coordinates and assists efforts to plan and implement University Outreach and Engagement events, such as the Campus-Community Advisory Board Annual Meeting, and helps organize the MSU Science Festival, the Michigan Science Olympiad Annual State Tournament Awards Ceremony, and the annual World Usability Day (with Usability/Accessibility Research and Consulting).

Julie is an active member of Meeting Professionals International Michigan Chapter (MMPI) and has served as the director of monthly meetings, the chair of the Annual Education Conference, and joined the board of directors as the director of Education, July 1st, 2014 — June 30th, 2015. She is currently the Vice President of Finance for MMPI. She also serves as the chapter administrator and treasurer for the MSU Chapter of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and became a Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau Certified Tourism Ambassador in 2011.

Julie was recently named the Michigan Meetings and Events Magazine Up-and-Coming Meeting Professional and was inducted into their 2015 Hall of Fame. She also received the MMPI "Michigan's Finest Planner" and "President's Award of Excellence" in June 2015.

Interested in a Board of Directors Position?

Each year, the MPI Michigan Chapter Board Nominating Committee recommends a slate of candidates to serve on the Chapter Board of Directors. On behalf of this year’s Nominating Committee, please consider submitting your name for a position on the board.

Serving on the board is not only demanding and challenging, but it is also extremely rewarding. Consider becoming a leader in a high achieving chapter of the largest organization of meeting professionals. This is your chance to contribute to the growth and professionalism of our chapter. The Board of Directors is made up of 13 chapter members: 5 Directors and 5 Vice Presidents and 3 members of the Office of the President. The Nominating Committee is made up of planners and suppliers who are in good standing and are familiar and active in chapter functions/events.

MMPI Board of Directors Qualifications:

• Be a member in good standing
• Be willing to fulfill the obligations of office, in the capacity indicated
• Have a history of involvement, accomplishment and dependable service to MPI or MMPI
• Be willing to contribute time, energy and creativity to the chapter with the consent of your employer Before committing to a board position, please review the job descriptions available on the MMPI website (www.mpimichapter.org). In addition, consider the following responsibilities of all board members:
• Must attend and participate in a monthly board meeting • Must submit a written board report each month
• Attendance at all chapter events is strongly encouraged
• Contribute information/articles for the e-newsletter as requested
• Attend the Annual Board Planning Session in May (usually 2 days)

MSAE's CMP Course and CMP Renewal Quick Links

The next session will be an online five month interactive course beginning February 17 with a candidate assessment followed by Orientation on March 6, 2017. It prepares candidates for the August 2017 CMP Examination.
